Terms of Service

These terms explain what you can expect from ClonyPDF, what we expect from you, and how we handle the files you process with our tools.

Last updated Free to use No account required

In plain English

ClonyPDF is a free set of online PDF, image and passport-photo tools. You may use them for lawful personal or professional work. You keep full ownership of every file you process. Files sent to our servers are temporary and are deleted automatically within one hour. We provide the tools as-is and cannot guarantee that any output will be accepted by a passport office, embassy or examination authority — that decision always rests with them.

The full agreement is below. The summary above is for convenience only; the numbered sections are what apply.

  1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using ClonyPDF, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the website or its tools.

These terms apply to every part of the site, including the PDF tools, the image converters, the Exam Resizer and the Passport Photo Maker.

  2. What ClonyPDF provides

ClonyPDF offers browser-based tools for working with documents and images. These currently include:

A complete list is available on the all tools page. Tools are free to use and no account is required. We may add, change or withdraw tools at any time.

  3. Eligibility

You may use ClonyPDF if you are able to form a binding agreement in your jurisdiction. If you are using the service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for that organisation.

ClonyPDF is not directed at children. If you are processing a photograph of a minor — for example a child's passport photo — you confirm that you are that child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have their permission.

  4. Acceptable use

You agree to use ClonyPDF lawfully. Specifically, you agree that:

    • You own the files you process, or you have permission from the rights holder.
    • You will not upload malicious files, malware or content designed to attack the service or other users.
    • You will not upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you are not permitted to share.
    • You will not use the tools to create, alter or falsify identity documents, official records or any document with intent to deceive.
    • You will not attempt to bypass rate limits, scrape the service at scale, or automate access without permission.
    • You will not attempt to probe, reverse engineer or interfere with the security of the service.

Important: our photo tools help you crop, resize and format a photograph to a published specification. They must not be used to alter facial features, misrepresent identity, or produce a document intended to mislead an authority.

We may restrict or block access where we reasonably believe these rules have been broken.

  5. Your files and how we handle them

    You keep ownership

You retain all rights to every file you upload or create. ClonyPDF claims no ownership over your content and does not use your files to train models, or share or sell them to third parties.

    Where processing happens

Processing depends on the tool. Photo cropping, alignment and preview in the Passport Photo Maker run inside your browser, so the image does not leave your device for those steps. Other operations — including PDF compression, merging, conversion, print-sheet generation and some image exports — require the file to be transmitted to our servers so it can be processed there.

    Temporary storage and deletion

Where a file is sent to our servers it is stored only for as long as the operation needs. Temporary files are given a randomly generated name, are not publicly listed, and are deleted automatically within one hour by a scheduled cleanup process. We do not maintain an archive of processed files.

    Your responsibility

You are solely responsible for the content of the files you process and for the results you obtain. Always keep your own copy of any original file — we cannot recover a file once it has been deleted.

For full detail on data handling, cookies and analytics, see our Privacy Policy.

  6. No guarantee of official acceptance

Our guides describe photo and document specifications published by passport offices, consulates, embassies, immigration departments and examination boards. We compile this information carefully and cite official sources, but requirements change and individual offices apply them at their own discretion.

ClonyPDF does not guarantee that any photo, document or file produced using our tools will be accepted by any authority. Acceptance is always that authority's decision. Before submitting an application, verify the current requirements with the office handling it.

Nothing on this site is legal, immigration or professional advice.

  7. Service availability and limits

ClonyPDF is provided without any uptime commitment. We may suspend or limit access for maintenance, to protect the service, or for any other operational reason, without prior notice.

Technical limits apply so the service stays available to everyone:

    • A maximum file size per upload — 15 MB for the passport photo tools.
    • Supported formats only. Images must be JPEG, PNG or WebP; PDF tools accept PDF files.
    • A limit on requests per IP address over a given period.

These limits may change. Exceeding them will result in the request being rejected rather than queued.

  8. Intellectual property

The ClonyPDF name, interface, written guides, diagrams, code and design are owned by ClonyPDF and protected by intellectual property law. These terms give you no licence to copy, republish or redistribute them.

You may link to any page on this site freely. You may not scrape or republish our guide content, reference tables or diagrams without written permission.

This does not affect your rights in your own files, which remain entirely yours.

  9. Third-party services

To operate the site we rely on a small number of third-party services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to the data they receive:

    • Google Analytics — anonymised usage measurement.
    • Google Fonts — web font delivery.
    • cdnjs — delivery of a public icon library.
    • Product Hunt — an embedded badge in the site footer.

Some tools use open-source libraries to process documents and images. ClonyPDF is not responsible for third-party outages, changes or policies. Details of what is collected are set out in our Privacy Policy.

  10. Disclaimer of warranties

ClonyPDF is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that results will be accurate or complete, or that any output will meet your requirements or those of a third party.

  11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ClonyPDF and anyone involved in providing the service shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or business interruption, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.

This includes, without limitation, any cost, delay or loss resulting from a document or application being rejected by any authority.

Because the service is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to zero, except where applicable law does not permit such a limitation. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

  12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold ClonyPDF harmless from any claim, demand, loss or expense, including reasonable legal costs, arising from your use of the service, your breach of these terms, or your infringement of any third-party right — including rights in the files you process.

  13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes or as legal requirements evolve. The revised version takes effect when it is published on this page, and the "last updated" date above will change.

Because ClonyPDF does not hold accounts or email addresses, we cannot notify you directly. Please review this page periodically. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised terms.

  14. Contact us

If you have a question about these terms, a copyright concern, or a security issue to report, please get in touch.

For security reports, please include enough detail to reproduce the issue and allow us reasonable time to respond before disclosing it publicly.
